Road Cycling

“You never have the wind with you — either it is against you or you’re having a good day”

Daniel Behrman

The Wannabees Cycling Club started out as road cycling club and is still very much active in this regard. Recently Covid-19 restrictions have limited normal group riding activities, but rides are still being called observing to social distancing protocols. Club membership includes a road riding tag as well as a mountain biking board.

It is better in a bunch

The Road Committee organises regular road rides.

These mostly take place on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as Public Holidays and cater for various levels of fitness and experience.  An added benefit for these rides is the presence of the support vehicles. This helps to create a safe environment for our cyclists and also raises visibility for other motorists and user’s of the road.

Club Group Rides are announced on the club's member portal.

Club group rides normally set off from Waterstone Village Shopping Center and are supported by a follow vehicle.

Coffee Rides

The club's road cyclists are a social bunch. Coffee rides and coffee stops are part and parcel of the riding experience. The club also supports riders participating at major local road cycling events, such as the Cape Town Cycle Tour and Double Century. Event "war-stories" are enthusiastically swapped at a club-sponsored after-the-event reception.
